1/2 Cent    (sold for $5750.0)

1826 C-2 R3+ VG8. Sharpness VF20 but cleaned and only partially retoned a somewhat glossy olive and bluish steel brown with coppery highpoints. Numerous obvious scratches show on the obverse, mostly in the fields. While the defects are significant, this piece could be improved with a proper retoning. Extremely rare terminal die state, Manley state 4.0, with a bold cud break that connects stars 4 & 5 to the rim. Less than 10 examples of this die state are known. Estimated Value $300-UP.
