1657,
Philip IV Cob 8 Reales 1657 NR-PoRS AU Details (Environmental Damage) NGC, Nuevo Reino mint, KM7.1, Cal-535, Restrepo-M46.24. 26.62gm. By far one of the most desirable and elusive emissions of the colonial 8 Reales cob series, rarely found in any condition, let alone at the AU level. While some traces of mild corrosion exist, these produce little of the usual graininess to the surfaces, which retain clear die polish and strong details--the mintmark, assayer, and date all remaining clear and fully struck-up. Weakness fortunately remains contained to the margins, leaving the central devices fully appreciable and clearly expressed. Difficult to locate meaningfully finer, with the highest-graded specimen an AU53. HID05401242017.
