1811 C-2 R3 VF25. Sharpness EF40 but the planchet is covered with uniform microscopic roughness under very dark olive brown and steel toning. The surfaces display a bit of gloss but they are closer to matte. No verdigris, and the only mark is a dull scratch in the field before the face. LDS, Manley state 3.0, with clear die clashmarks above the 11 in the date. The die crack at OF and AMER is clear. Nicely struck for this variety with only minor weakness along the left edge of the reverse. This piece is plated on page 65 in the first edition of the Cohen half cent book to illustrate the variety.
