1 Cent    (sold for $550.0)

1795 S-75 R3 Lettered Edge VG8. Blundered Edge Letters reading ONE HUNDREDR A DOLLAR. Glossy medium chocolate brown with lighter brown toning covering the devices. The surfaces are decent but a glass reveals extremely fine roughness under the glossy toning. No verdigris, and the only marks are a couple very light rim bruises at the bottom of the reverse. LDS, Breen state VI, with obvious swelling at AM in AMERICA. The date is strong and the legends are complete. The blundered edge lettering is easily readable (the error was caused when the Castaing machine was not reset all the way to the null or starting position before adding the lettering). Estimated Value $400-UP. Categories: Liberty Cap Cents
