1/2 Cent    (sold for $850.0)

1806 C-4 R1 Large 6 with Stems AU55. Repunched 6. Lustrous chocolate and steel brown with lighter steel brown toning in protected areas. Only a touch of friction on the highest points from mint state. The only marks are a couple faint hairlines well hidden in the hair. Excellent eye appeal for the grade. E-MDS, Manley state 1.0. The repunching on the 6 is obvious. A tiny rim cud break joins three dentils even with the upper edge of the bust and a similar rim cud break connects three dentils above the B in LIBERTY. The reverse is rotated 20 degrees CW relative to the normal head-to-foot die orientation. Softly struck on the top of the obverse and on the opposing lower part of the wreath, but the bust tip is strongly impressed (which is unusual). Removed from an NGC slab graded MS61 Brown (NGC label included, and it shows the die variety). Estimated Value $600-UP. Categories:
